At long last, I’m happy to introduce Square Man, a real-time puzzle game in which you collect stars and move blocks around the stage in order to accomplish certain goals. It has hundreds of stages built in, plus a level editor so you can create and share your own levels! For more information, check out the Square Man website!

Square Man Puzzle Game launch trailer

I originally wrote this as a personal project in my spare time. It was originally just something to see if I could do it. I’d created several Kye / Chip’s Challenge clones in the past, and I wanted to see if I could write something that was really adaptable and could stake items in the same cell while still running fast. I originally wrote this in Python, and that’s where I thought it would stay. Then some time last year, I thought, “You know, I could probably port that to something more distributable.” And so I did. And it took quite a long time and a lot of effort. Plus I got so many ideas for more objects (like the clone block, the pushable conveyor belts, and all the electricity/heat/water/light stuff) that I still haven’t implemented them all. (Maybe you’ll see that someday in an update…)

All the tiles and blocks currently available in Square Man

So check the game out, if you’d like. It’s currently available on Steam for 64-bit Windows. (I might build it for Mac and/or Linux, but I’m not sure yet.). I think it’s definitely worth a try if you like old-school puzzle games.
