Introducing Spaceship 31, a new text-adventure game based on the same engine as Castle of the Vampire and STAR FRACAS 17. I’ve been wanting to make a new text-adventure game for a while, but there were so many other things to do (like making Square Man updates). Plus, you have to be in the right mood to set up a text adventure. It all comes down to planning, and that takes a while. Plus, it’s just a lot of writing, and you have to be in the mood for that too. I had tried to make a really big game, but that was just too complicated to hold in my head, and it fizzled out, so I wanted to make on that wasn’t quite so taxing on me or the players, so here it is!

I’d say it’s a middle ground between the two other games: Vampire is pretty easy and STAR FRACAS is just really long with lots of things to think about and do. I hope you liked those and I hope you like this one too!

In Spaceship 31, you find yourself trapped in a derelict spaceship under quarantine lockdown. Apparently, the crew picked up an alien visitor who, though they managed to contain it, infected the ship with a strange virus that dissolves organic tissue. You and the creature are the only lifeforms on the ship, and you’re trapped together. You have to find a way to cure yourself of the alien virus and find a way off the ship without the creature destroying you!

That all sounds complicated, but it really isn’t that bad. Yes, the creature will chase you around the ship if it’s let loose, but if that happens, you’ve probably already missed your chance. (You can’t even run away from it without using an item, and if you get to that point, hopefully you have a plan to escape.) As far as a hint goes, I can only say that there is but one way to leave the ship, and it involves an intricate but very logical setup. Good luck!
